This is a repost using composer.io as a trial run. Thanks.

Why is it that children must pay the price for our sins? Why does God, or whatever deity we choose to worship, not punish the ones responsible for the atrocities of this world? As long as I can remember, it has always been the sons and daughters who go to fight our wars. It is the innocent bystander, men, women and children that are murdered senselessly.

Whether it be the gangs, the drug cartels or foreign and domestic terrorists, it seems always the children die first. They are innocent of any wrong. They do not even know right from wrong yet. Why must our sins preclude our own guilt? Then, as if our sins are too much to bear, we kill our own children, after professing how dear they are to our lives.

I have no children of my own. I helped raise my two nephews as children with as much love as I could muster. Even today, at 30 years of age, I see them as the child asking me for ice cream or wanting to go to the movies. Even today, I worry about their well being every moment of the waking day.

So I ask, "How can we sacrifice our children when it is we that should pay the price?"

I know today I have been on the dark side a bit and I do not mean to bring you, my fellow readers down, but I feel I must voice my thoughts. I can only hope you empathize with me. "Why must the children pay?"
