Occupy Houston protest - Photo #11 - Houston Chronicle

Occupy Houston protest - Photo #11 - Houston Chronicle

Social distortions are becoming more and more commonplace. When older citizens are ready to be arrested while protesting, then is the time for the world to sit up and take notice. My sympathies are with the Occupy Movement, but logic dictates to me that they are still missing the whole picture. Their cause is righteous but their methods are behind the times.

There are just some days when the Devil just seems to control you. Even my dog Chico, who thinks he is a chihuahua, has those days too. This photo makes him appear to be possessed.

Man is accidentally shot by his own dog | The Sideshow - Yahoo! News

Dogs are man's best friend. Except, you know, http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=18299091&title=dog-shoots-man">when they're shooting a gun at you.
And strangely enough, that's what really happened to a hapless dog owner in Brigham City, Utah. The man in question--a 46-year-old hunting enthusiast who is not named in local news reports on the incident--got a behind-full of birdshot courtesy of his loyal canine companion when he was out duck hunting over the weekend.
KSL.com reports the man and his dog were traveling in a canoe-like boat when the man stepped out into a shallow marsh to set up some decoys. His left his 12-gauge shotgun resting across the bow of the boat, according to Box Elder County Sheriff's Deputy Kevin Potter.
That's when the dog "did something to make the gun discharge," Potter said. "I don't know if the safety device was on. It's not impossible the dog could have taken it off safety."

Apparently excited to join his owner in the marsh, the dog jumped up on the boat's bow and stepped on the gun. The gun was fired, hitting the man in the buttocks with 27 pellets of birdshot.
The man promptly called 9-1-1, and is now reportedly recovering. Potter said that thanks to a well-positioned pair of waders--the hip-length rubber boots he was wearing at the time--the dog owner was able to avoid a more serious gunshot wound.

This kind of makes it possible to believe in Dick Cheney's hunting accident.

Illegal Aliens Got Billions in IRS Tax Credits Last Year - Illegal Immigrants - Fox Nation

Illegal Aliens Got Billions in IRS Tax Credits Last Year - Illegal Immigrants - Fox Nation: "AP File
By Lisa Rein, Washington Post

The Internal Revenue Service allowed undocumented workers to collect $4.2 billion in refundable tax credits last year, a new audit says, almost quadruple the sum five years ago.

Although undocumented workers are not eligible for federal benefits, the report released Thursday by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration concludes that federal law is ambiguous on whether these workers qualify for a tax break based on earned income called the additional child tax credit.

Taxpayers can claim this credit to reduce what they owe in taxes, often getting refunds from the government. The vagueness of federal law may have contributed to the $4.2 billion in credits, the report said."

I guess having taxes taken out and reporting as any American would doesn't count.

BBC News - US economy: No new jobs added in August

BBC News - US economy: No new jobs added in August:

Average hourly earnings fell by 3 cents to $23.09, while the average working week dropped to 34.2 hours from 34.3 hours in July.

For the majority of working or rather non working Amreicans, they would gladly take these wages and hours. Sadly, they will never reach such lofty levels. When will the government ever recognize their needs?

Galveston County Bans Fireworks

Bans On Fireworks Hurt Sales - Local News - Houston, TX - msnbc.com

It is good to see that Galveston County has joined with other Texas counties to ban the use and sale of fireworks. With July 4th celebrations only hours away, it must have been a tough decision to make. Firework stand owners will be devastated this year having to kiss their profits away, but better safe than sorry.

We must all remember that a ban on fireworks should not dim the light of freedom we celebrate on July Fourth. It should help to exemplify the American way of life we sometimes take for granted. I for one will have no problem with the Galveston County ban on fireworks.

A Day Without the Internet - Associated Content from Yahoo! - associatedcontent.com

A Day Without the Internet

A day without internet service seems like an impossibility to some. After all, who does not possess the capabability of getting at the World Wide Web? In this glorious year of 2011 has society not developed to the point that global communications represent in real time a birthright to all who live and breathe upon this planet? Apparently the answer is "No".
It is alleged that the future of human beings is dependent upon his dependance upon technology. Technology will catapult us into a unprecedented domain of existence. In that location will be more benevolent living conditions, improved living accommodations, many more lines of work and expanded wealth. Hunger and illness will constitute a matter from the past, long disregarded with additional affairs at one time prevalent in our society. Internet service will be equally common as the blood that flows within our veins. It will constitute the selfsame lifeblood of all existence on earth linking every living organism and man made entity.
And so it is alleged, but will it be? If today is any indication of the answer, then the answer is another resounding "No". In today's world, anything and everything is accessible, but solely for the ones who can afford to pay for their needs and wants. If one of the millions who languish in the lower-ranking income echelons of society were to desire more, they would simply be out of luck. Even in the promise land of the United States of America where opportunity is purported to be available to all, only a very few will chance upon what they require or what they desire. Millions nowadays experience no connection to the rest of the human race because they live day-after-day without an internet service.
A day without internet service is like an act of terrorism to most of us. For countless millions that endure life each day without internet service it constitutes an existence ill-fated to be unconnected from the living, cast into the very depths of a hell on earth undreamed of by most, alone and forgotten for infinity merely because they possess no internet service.
Can we even imagine?

Solar Power Project for Australia

A massive solar power project has been approved in Australia and will be the largest such project in the southern hemisphere.  Although solar power is much talked about in the United States, it is in other parts of the world where it is taken more seriously.

Spending more than 104 million, CS Energy will be in charge of the project.  It is intended to help carbon cleanup in the future.  The country of Australia and its leaders should be commended for their initiative with the inception of this massive solar project.

Can Government Seize Your Property?

Can Government Seize Your Property?

In 2005 the law regarding the seizure of property by the government changed for the worse. Today the government can take your property as long as they show it is for a worthwhile cause such as raising taxes. This means private developers can benefit from their agreements with local politicians and build whatever they want. A social distortion of this magnitude can only lead to worse and far reaching changes in our laws. Government should not be allowed to seize your property unless it is a last resort to accomplish a superior act toward the greater good of all.

Drinking and Driving

Drinking and driving is known to be the cause of many deaths in America and the world over. Many of us have no sympathy for those who drink and drive such as those from M.A.D.D. (Mothers against drunk drivers). But sometimes the view of the socially inept can become distorted and appear quite comical under the influence of alcohol. Still, make no exceptions, it is a social distortion to think that it is good to be caught drinking and driving.

Freedom: The M.I.A.

Freedom is a fight that is being fought every day in this world, on one front or another. Society is imposing the parameters as we live and breathe each day. America is not free from this ordeal. Some might say that America has found new ways to exact such a world. The following video was one I ran across by accident but it does portray the possibilities in its own crude way.

The Domino Effect of Freedom

The need for freedom creates the Domino Effect as being felt around the world.  Already Tunisia, Egypt, Bahrain and Libya have felt the effect.  Which domino will fall next?  Logic will dictate the answer.  The Logic is...what it is...the Domino Effect.

Power to the People of Bahrain

Power to the people of Bahrain is a common theme in the Middle East today as the people begin to show their disdain for those currently in power.

No longer will the people accept the dictatorial regimes as a stand-in for democracy. This a social distortion of the greatest magnitude which has subdued the people through the power of violence and intimidation. These regimes have been in power for over 20 or more years. They have employed the same old tactics to quell the masses but are finding them inefficient against the peaceful power of the people.

Immigration Laws to See Arizona Hospitals

Immigration laws are soon to see themselves in force in Arizona hospitals. The new push is to say that illegal immigration is costing billions of dollars to hospitals when ever these immigrants get the sniffles.

Why do these politicians not solve the core of the problem...the border itself. That is where immigration begins and start...legal or illegal. Solve that problem and every thing else falls in place.

Iran to follow Egypt Footsteps

Iran to follow Egypt footsteps is a very strong possibility. The dangers of such a path could be disastrous for the Iranian citizens. The following is a good discussion on this topic. How many will die in the new but continued pursuit for freedom in Iran and the Middle East?  Will Iran continue to follow the footsteps of Egypt and win their freedom or will the people of Iran fail in their quest?

Egypt's Hosni Mubarak is Leaving

Egypt's embattled President Hosni Mubarak has finally conceded to the pressures of a nation to leave office.  The military of Egypt will take charge but will not be the substitute for a conventional government.  Their time in power will be temporary.  The Egyptian people are ecstatic today as they heard the news.

A decision such as this is almost an unprecedented event and could set the tone for other nations to rebel.

Health Care Law Unconstitutional

Health care law is found unconstitutional in federal court of Florida. Judge Roger Vinson is the second federal judge to rule that the Obama Health Care Law is unconstitutional. He ruled that the requirement to buy insurance is wrong and since it is a key point tied to the entire bill, ti results in the entire program being unconstitutional. No doubt, health care reform under the Obama plan will be tested in the Supreme Court.

Obama's health care program requires that all citizens purchase health insurance or face fines. Will this create a precedent that could be extended to liability insurance laws? Could Obamacare lead to more dictatorial laws in the future?

Health care constitutionality is possibly setting precedents from beginning to end.

3 Tips to Downloading Free Movies

Downloading free movies from the internet is not that all of a challenge if you know what you are doing.  Follow these three basic tips and in no time you will be enjoying many, if not all, your favorite movies in the comfort of your home without having to pay for each movie you view.

First tip is to find a few web sites that have free movies to watch online.  Look for those sites that offer multiple listings for URL access to these movies.  Perhaps the best place to start would be at OVGUIDE.com.   They offer many movie site listings in a variety of categories.  Online categories would be movies, tv shows, trailers, documentaries, how to's, education and even adult sites, if you are so inclined.  Through trial and error you will find the correct online movie sites to bookmark.  Believe it or not, there are many where it is extremely difficult to download from, if not impossible.  All other sites will require payment to download or jumping through offers and surveys.

Second tip, and equally as important, is to find a good download manager that can grab these online movies for you.  There are a number of softwares and browser plugins that can download from the "personal video" sites such as YouTube, Daily Motion and Yahoo.  Probably the best download manager for this task would be IDM (Internet Download Manager).  You can download a free trial anywhere online.  It would be well worth the small cost to buy the software as you will soon find out after the trial.  IDM actually integrates with your browser and when you go to a site to view a free movie, once the movie starts, IDM will grab the URL and you can simply click to download.  Remember, IDM can resume if the link is broken only on those sites it says it has resume capability.  Megavideo is known for great quality but it does not support the resume function.  Do not waste time trying to download from them.

Third, once your free movie is downloaded you can view in any video player that has the correct codecs installed.  GOM Player is an excellent choice for this task.  If you wish to burn the movie to DVD try a freeware called Convert X 2DVD and before you know it you will be the proud owner of a free movie to watch on your television screen.

Now, downloading free movies from the internet will be a breeze because you now know what you are doing.  Enjoy your free movies.

Dead birds signs of Apocalyptic nature

  • Signs of Apocalyptic nature seem to be popping up everywhere.  Dead birds in the thousands in Arkansas.  Hundreds of dead birds in Louisiana.  Thousands of dead fish in Florida and Arkansas.  Now dead birds in Sweden.
  • This is above and beyond a simple social distortion and people should stop laughing these events away.
  • Rescue chief Christer Olofsson holds a dead bird in Falkoping, Sweden Jan. 5, 2010. About 50 birds were found dead on the street there.

New York Times reports Dncan Hunter:American Soul

I just read part of an article at the New York Times where it says,
In April, Representative Duncan Hunter, Republican of California, one of those pushing for Congressional action on the issue, stirred controversy when he suggested that children born in the United States to illegal immigrants should be deported with their parents until the birthright citizenship policy was changed.
“And we’re not being mean,” Mr. Hunter told a Tea Party rally in Southern California. “We’re just saying it takes more than walking across the border to become an American citizen. It’s what’s in our souls.”

If they had a soul that was pure they would be ashamed of what was said.  A newborn needs to be exposed and brought up in a surrounding that instills what American citizenship is supposed to mean.  I am ashamed of this Duncan Hunter and any others like him.  To go through what these people go through to get to this side of the border despite being technically illegal, should be commended for their perseverance and belief of the American dream.  It has obviously been instilled to a greater degree in their souls than in legal Americans such as Duncan Hunter.
